Wool-Testing Authority
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. A bill establishing a wool testing authority was introduced in Parliament today. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Taiboys) said at present testing was carried out by the Department of Agriculture. However, the demand for the service had expanded and it was felt desirable to establish an independent organisation. The board would comprise a chairman with three members appointed by the Wool Commission, three by the Wool Board, and two officers of the department. The charges fixed by the authority would be sufficient to meet all financial obligations of the authority. The bill was read a first time.
