The appointee will be primarily an anaesthetist but will be expected to undertake some other duties, by arrangement. Applicants must have had experience in anaesthesia and a higher qualification in anaesthetics would be preferred but not essential. A salary of up to £2360 p.a., depending on qualifications and experience, will be determined by the Medical Officers’ Salaries Grading Committee. The applicant should have knowledge and experience of the latest techniques in the preparation and reproduction of plans and colour processes. He should have a thorough knowledge of the Land Registration system in New Zealand, including searches of property titles. Preference will be given to an applicant who has either practical experience in Town Planning work or a keen desire to acquire knowledge in this expanding field. The most important prerequisite is the ability to lead, direct and control the work of others. Educational qualifications required are University Entrance or equivalent; draughting examination qualifications would be an advantage. The main duties of the position are: Supervision of the draughting staff of Council’s Town Planning Division who are engaged as follows; (1) The preparation of base maps for the Auckland City area. (2) The preparation of Special Purpose Plans for District Scheme Map Amendments, and plans for reproduction and printing. November 27, 1964. 2395 SOCIAL SCIENCE RESEARCH COUNCIL OF AUSTRALIA—ABORIGINES PROJECT RESEARCH FELLOW (£A2OOO— Actual salary will be fixed In relation to qualifications and experience. DUTIES: To organise and carry out surveys of the economic situation of Aboriginals and groups of Aboriginal descent, more particularly in closely settled and urban areas with particular reference to employment, income, and housing. After an Initial period of preparation, considerable travel will be essential. QUALIFICATIONS: A higher degree with honours in economics, sociology, anthropology or other appropriate scoial science field. Experience in Aboriginal affairs, or with comparable social issues, will be an advantage. The Project office has been established in Sydney, where it will be necessary for the Research Fellow to be based. The focus of the Project is upon the impact of policies and administrative practices upon Aboriginals and groups of Aboriginal descent. It is hoped that the Research Fellow will make a major contribution to the report and recommendations; and will, in addition, produce a monograph which may be published subsequently.
