Prices Ease For Dunedin Wool

DUNEDIN, October 2.

It was obvious from the start of selling on the second day of the Dunedin wool sale today that prices were at a lower level than on Wednesday, says the official report on the sale issued by the Dunedin Woolbrokers’ Association and the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association in conjunction with the New Zealand Wool Commission.

The market was generally 2i per cent easier for halfbreds and medium crossbreds. Extra fine crossbreds were fully 2i per cent cheaper, while coarse descriptions showed a decline of from par to 2J per cent. There was a scarcity of super style wools in the offering, according to the report. The offering for the second day was 25,128 bales, making a total of 50,219 for the two days. A large proportion of the clip was affected by dust and vegetable matter due to the winter climatic conditions. This could have been

remedied to a large extent by more careful handling in the shearing shed. The major influence in the buying was Continental competition. Local mills and Bradford were comparatively quiet. Price Range The range of prices was:— PRICES—Intro to come
