AMBULANCE RECORD
2135 Patients In Month
The Christchurch subcentre of the St. John Ambulance Association carried more patients last month than in any previous month. The number of miles travelled was only 150 short of the record figure in July. During the month ambulances carried 2135 patients and travelled 10,808 miles. The patients included 42 motor-vehicle accidents involving 51 patients, 26 collapses in the streets and 33 miscellanoeous calls, including accidents at work, falls and sports injuries. The secretary-treasurer of the sub-centre (Mr G. A. Brown) said yesterday that the figures were important because they showed an increasing demand on the association’s services. “It is disappointing to note, however, that a corresponding increase in donations from users is not reflected in our receipts or in the number of donors.”
