DALGETY PROFIT
Big Rise To (N.Z. Press ‘Association) WELLINGTON, October 2. Dalgety and New Zealand Loan, Ltd., lifted group net profit 37 per cent or £604,000 to £2,249,000, subject to audit, in the year to June 30. Directors recommend a final dividend on the ordinary shares of 6 per cent, making 10 per cent, free of tax, for the year against 9 per cent last year. The report states that the improved result is largely because of favourable seasonal conditions, higher prices for wool and livestock and. the realisation of most of the economies expected from the 1961 merger. Taxation on profits for the year is £2,120,000 (£1,170,000). Dividend is payable on December 5 and transfer books close from November 2 to 6, ex dividend November 2. The Christchurch branch manager of the mills concerned said the id per lb was the price rise, from his organisation to wholesale merchants.
