RECORD LIFT
Distance running has proved valuable stamina training for the Canterbury weight-lifter, R. E. Henery, who broke the middle-weight national record for the dumbbell two hands dean and jerk lift in a special attempt on the record this week.
Henery lifted a total of 1961 b (each dumb-bell weighing 981 b) to better the previous record by Mb. Henery said that distance
training had improved his stamina considerably for this class of lift which required persistent vigorous weight training. Running bad also enabled him to reduce his weight by 61b within a week to get down tp th® required limit for the middle-weight division. . The - previous record for this lift had stood for some years. The referee was Mr H. Morrison.
