Road Subsidy Charges
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. The National Roads Amendment Bill introduced in Parliament today reduces the minimum amount of revenue to be paid to counties from 30 per cent to 26 per cent. The allocation for State highways is cut from 51 per cent to 49 per cent. The resulting balance is to be reserved for allocation at the discretion of the board, and rises from ■ a maximum of 5 per cent to 11 per cent. The amount municipalities receive remains at 14 per cent.
Cyclist Injured.—Graham Stewart McLeod, of 15 Balfour terrace, received head and hand injuries when he was involved in a collision with a car at the intersection of Hereford and Madras streets at 7.12 p.m, yesterday. He was taken by ambulance to Christchurch Hospital where he was treated before being admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital.
