Forecast: Canterbury.—Light north-east winds on the coast, moderate to fresh north-westerlies inland; mainly fine, but high cloud increasing; some rain in the alps tonight; mild afternoon temperatures. Outlook: cloudy. Marlborough and Nelson.—North-west winds, becoming strong in exposed places; fine at first, but cloud increasing; some drizzle about Nelson and the Sounds tonight; moderate or mild afternoon temperatures. Outlook: a period of rain. Buller and Westland.—Moderate northerly winds; light rain in South Westland later this morning, spreading northwards during this afternoon; moderate temperatures.
