FIGHTS FOR MURPHY
Announcement Next Week Another fight for Dion Murphy would definitely take place on October 22, said the president of the Canterbury Boxing Association (Mr E. G. Pocock) last evening. Two or three boxers in Australia and Daniel Tuyen, of New Caledonia, were interested in meeting Murphy. He would know Murphy’s next opponent early next week, Mr Pocock said. Murphy has now won all his 13 professional bouts, four in Melbourne and nine in Christchurch. His fight against Arthur Bradley on Thursday was the first one in which the Canterbury 'fahs did not get their money’s worth. The accidental collision of heads was “on” almost from the opening gong because Bradley held his gloves in close and led with his head, making himself a hard target on which to score clean punches. It was reported in “The Press” yesterday that Dr. H. G. Crofts attended to the cut on Bradley’s head. This was incorrect. The . doctor was Dr. D, L. Cropp, honorary surgeon to the boxing association. .
