N.Z. BLADE SHEARING
The 1964-65 New Zealand blade shearing championship and Caltex Golden Blades contest will be held at the Christchurch Show on Friday, November 13. It will carry a first prize of £lOO, with the Caltex Golden Blades trophy and Wool Board’s gold medal, a second prize of £5O, third prize of £3O. fourth prize of £2O and fifth and sixth prizes of £lO. The contest will again be organised by the Christchurch central committee for shearing and woolhandling. The contest will be held in conjunction with the Canter-bury-West Coast shearing and wool handling finals on November 12, and the "Miss Wool” contest which will be held on the Friday. Entries for the blade shearing (the fee is £1) close with -the secretary of the Christchurch central shearing and wool handling committee, Department of Agriculture, Private Bag, Christchurch, on October 30. The committee is anxloue to hear from farmers who are willing to provide sheep for these two contests. For the blade shearing about 150 halfbred or Corriedale ewes or hoggets are required, and for the shearing and wool handling about 150 Corriedale or Bomney ewee or hoggets In full wool. All care and responsibility will be taken for these sheep. Mr L. Galloway, a sheep and wool instructor of the Department of Agriculture in Christchurch, would be interested in hearing from anyone prepared to offer sheep.
