MORE FOR JUDGES
Approval By Cabinet (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 1. Approved salary increases for judges and stipendiary magistrates were announced by the Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan) today. The Chief Justice, judges of the Court of Appeal, puisne judges and judges of the Arbitration Court, Land Valuation Court and the Compensation Court will receive an additional £7OO a year. Stipendiary magistrates and judges of the Maori Land Court will get an additional £5OO a year. The new salary levels will be Chief Justice, £5450: president of the Court of Appeal £5200; puisne judges, j.’Cge of the Arbitration Court, judge of the Land Valuation Court £4950; judge of the Compensation Court £4700; stipendiary magistrates and chief judge of the Maori Land Court £3500; judges of the Maori Land Court £3300 Mr Hanan said amended legislation to give effect to the Cabinet’s decision would be introduced into Parliament soon.
