Coal Price Increased

(N.Z. Press Association) GREYMOUTH, Sept. 30. The Greymouth District Co-operative Coal Miners Union, at a largely attended meeting tonight, decided to increase the price of coal. The union secretary, Mr H. Bell, said the increase announced recently by the Under-Secretary for Mines (Mr P. M. Outhwaite) in respect of State mines would be adopted by private mine operators. From October 1, screened coal will be increased by 5s a ton, unscreened coal by 3s and slack coal by 2s. Mr Bell said union members were unanimous in their decision, which had to be made to cope with rising costs of other commodities.
