ESSEN, October 1 The Krupp works, once Germany’s major armaments maker, is now producing nuclear fall-out shelters. A spokesman said the company had developed a prefabricated, egg-shaped bunker that would give its occupants a good chance of survival from
the blast and fall-out of an atomic explosion more than 1000 yards away. The shelter had a fresh-air filter, telephone connexion, and three beds. Alfred Krupp von Bohlen, the sole owner of the industrial empire.
Super Train. Japan National Railways today introduced super-expresses on their new trunk line between Tokyo and Osaka, Western Japan, at the world’s top operational speed of about 130 miles an hour.—Tokyo, October 1.
