Launch Burnt Out
(N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, Sept 30. A former Kaikoura fishing launch, Spec, now owned by Mr John Gander of Blenheim, caught fire during a trip from Wadkawa Bay to Picton last night and was almost completely destroyed. When the fire broke out in the forward part of the launch Mr Gander beached it about 100 yards on the Picton side of the Snout light and tried to fight the flames himself. He was unsuccessful and the fire later reduced the launch to a burnt-out shell.
