GAOLED FOR MONTH
Driving Caused Two Deaths (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 28. Frank Aynsley Morrell, aged 35, printer, was sentenced today to one month’s imprisonment on two charges of careless driving causing death. He was convicted on September 22 after pleading not guilty. His car was involved in a collision at Otara oh May 8, when a 19-year-old housewife and her 12-months-old son, passengers in the other vehicle, died after the accident. Mr A. A. Coates, S.M., said the sentence should be a plain warning to those whose careless driving could result in the maiming or death of innocent people. “I am left with no alternative but to conclude that your judgment could have been affected by the liquor you had consumed,” he said. Morrell was disqualified from driving for four years.
