Deep Snow On Milford Road
(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Sept. 30. The road to Milford Sound is not likely to be open for traffic until Labour week-end. A Ministry of Works official said today that it would probably be two weeks before machines could begin clearing snow near the Homer tunnel. It could be longer if more snow fell. There was still an avalanche danger and a “terrific amount” of snow lying on the road.
