Four Seamen Convicted
After incidents in Norwich Quay and Oxford street, Lyttelton, early yesterday morning, four seamen appeared before Messrs L. P. Shuker and E. H. Poulsen, Justices of the Peace. Bruce Paget pleaded not guilty to charges of resisting the police and using obscene language, and guilty to casting offensive matter. He was convicted of resisting the police and casting offensive matter, and was fined £5 and £2 respectively. The other charge was dismissed. Albert Mountain, Richsrd James Jephson, and Paul Middleton Perkins were each ordered to pay costs when they were convicted on charges of obstructing the police. They pleaded not guilty. All four defendants were represented by Mr M. J. Glue.
