LOCAL BODY LOANS
None Raised In Sept. No local body loans were on the market during September, but October and November promise to be busy months for loan raising. Today, the Waimairi County Council opens four small loans, totalling £29,000, for road works programmes in four ridings. Even before opening date the response had. been “fairly good,” said a spokesman. Ashburton Loan Only £9OOO remains to be taken in the Ashburton Borough Council’s £45,000 Tinwald Water Reticulation Loan which opens on October 7. Of this, £8435 is in the tenth year. Interest has been high in the North Canterbury Hospital Board’s £270,000 building works loan which opens on November 1. The loan is from two to 20 years at current rates of interest.
Current Repco Sales Higher
(N.Z Press Assn —Copyright) MELBOURNE. Sept. 30. Repco, Ltd.,- had higher sales and profits in July and August than- in the comparable period of last year, the chairman (Mr C. G. McGrath) told shareholders at the annual meeting. But Mr McGrath warned that profits were at a lower rate on turnover than last year, which reflected the result of increased costs of wages and services.
