Downward Trend In Dunedin Wool

(New Zealand. Press Association)

DUNEDIN, September 30.

A slight downward trend in prices marked the close of the first day of the Dunedin wool sale to'day. As the first catalogue went before the buyers it became obvious that only the better style wools would maintain their former value and average style crossbred finaly lost as much as 3d on August rates.

Although the prices were down on the winter sale in August they were the same, and in some cases better, thah prices realised in the same sale last year. Buying was keen arid there were no obvious limits. The greatest demand was thought to come from Continental interests. Crossbred wool made up about 70 per cent of the offering. The better styles were In great demand and commanded good prices. Fine wools were generally down in price, compared with both last year’s and August’s sale, but they were selling dearer towards the end of the last catalogue. Price Range
