TRAFFIC IN PORT
Concern At Congestion
Concern that traffic congestion in Norwich quay had increased since the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s waterfront parking ban was imposed, was expressed by Cr. G. C. Adams at a meeting of the Lyttelton Borough Council. The Deputy-Mayor (Mr R. H. Duff) said there was no doubt that there would be further problems but he was confident that the borough’s traffic officer was fully aware of them. “There is not a great deal that we can do just yet. How we Will eventually overcome the parking problems I do not know,” he said. Restrictions or parking meters might be a solution, Cr. Duff said. Cr. G. E. Boyd said she considered there was no solution to the borough’s parking problems. It was up to the harbour board and Railways Department to find parking space for their employees, she said. The matter, which was raised in general business, lapsed without a resolution.
