MR T.S. KNIGHT RETIRES
Work In Printing Industry The printing-order manager of Whitcombe and Tombs, Ltd, for the last 40 years (Mr T. S. Knight) was bidden farewell on his retirement at a special function arranged by the company last evening. Mr Knight joined the company in 1924, 18 years after he entered the sprinting industry as an apprentice in Scotland. Since 1924 he has
been a member of the executive og the Canterbury Master Printers’ Association. At last evening's function tive of the Canterbury Master (Mr G. N. Waller) presented Mr Knight with a radio set on behalf of the staff and the company. Present also were eight other employees of the company each with more than 40 years’ service Tributes to Mr Knight’s personal and business qualities were paid by several speakers Mr Knight, a keen golfer, has three times been champion of the Richmond Hill club. He is a foundation member of the Avondale Golf Club, and has served on its committee for a number of years. 9
