Military Training
Sir, —Can anyone enlighten me on the following? A 20-year-old youth did his army training in September, 1963. He has had to do a weekend course in camp since. This coming week-end he is again due to go for week-end training. . Next January, 1965, it is understood he will go to the North Island again. for a week’s training. He is in the engineers. Would he have signed without knowing about this recall service? Many have never yet registered.—Yours, LIKE TO KNOW. Septe„.uer 23, 1964. [Lieutenant Colonel R. J. Moor, Chief of Staff, Southern Military District, replies: “The terms of the National Service Training Act state that in each training year the National Serviceman is required to do six days’ out-of-camp training (this comprises week-end training in the main) and an annual camp of 14 days. He should be aware of this obligation both from labour and employment processing and from military instruction.”}
