MODEST DOGS
(From Our Own Reporter)
WELLINGTON. Sept. 30. The Wellington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is surprised and disappointed that its contest for the most heroic dog of the year has drawn only three entries, all from the South Island. “We’re very disappointed,” said the society’s secretary (Mr P. D. Pryce) today. “This was
not intended as a publicity stunt “We’re always hearing about dogs which are a nuisance but When a dog does something good to show his affection for his owners we don’t seem to hear about it.” Entries closed yesterday. A choice will be made at a society committee meeting next month. The prize is a £2 book token—for the owner.
