N.Z. Stocks Firmer In Brisker Trading
New Zealand stocks showed a firmer tone as full trading for the week started with Auckland and Wellington Exchanges open after Monday’s Dominion Day holiday. Overseas issues were barely in balance. Tui Brewery advanced a further 6d to Ils, Meat Packers at 7s 6d and New Zealand Refrigerating at 24s 6d both moved up 3d, but Southland Frozen Meat slipped back 3d from its peak 30s 6d. Truth were up lOd to 60s ex dividend, while Brierley recovered 3d to 6s. Sugar stocks showed some recovery with rises of Is 3d by C.S.R. and Is 6d by C.S.R. N.Z. register to come into line at 645.
