Bear Hunt Olympic Hazard For Equestrian Team

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) TOKYO, September 22. New Zealand’s equestrian competitors may find they are caught up in a hunt—but not for foxes. Officials have been alerted that a female bear with a cub has appeared near the equestrian village at Karuizawa, which is more than 100 miles from Tokyo. A local farmer reported that an acre of his corn field had been devastated and footprints of two bears—one big, one small—were found in the area.

A bear hunt is being planned among ways to meet the unexpected threat to the village. The bears can be dangerous. They have been known to attack people when they invade lonely farms in

Inside are two swimming pools and a diving pool. The 2000-ton roof is supported by two 12in steel cables at both ends of the leaf-shaped structure. The annex, with its roof supported by one pillar and steel cables, gives the appearance of a giant snail.

Torch Relay Four Olympic torches began converging on Tokyo today on the last leg of the relay to bring the sacred Olympic flame to Tokyo. It arrived in Japan from Olympia in Greece on September 9. Four torches were lit from the flame and they began a 31-day relay to Tokyo, passing through 46 prefectures on the various islands that make up Japan. Today, all four torches had reached the main Japanese island of Honshu. In the north, two torches were heading towards Tokyo along the Japan Sea and the Pacific coasts, while in the southwest two torches crossed the Chugoku mountain ranges and the Seato inland sea. The four torch relays should converge together on the Imperial Plaza in Tokyo on October 10. The final torch will then be lit at the plaza and 10 young athletes,
