N.Z. CATTLE TEST
Concern In Scotland IN.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) GLASGOW, September 10. Scottish breeders are concerned about the different tests made in various countries before cattle can be imported, and particularly about the new regulations now in force in New Zealand. A number of animals bought in Scotland at the Perth Cattle Sales in February failed to pass the tests for entry in New Zealand. Support was growing among Scottish cattle breeders for an international conference to standardise cattle importing conditions, observers said in Glasgow. Mr James Jardine, secretary of the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society, said tonight: “A number of new tests have been imposed in overseas countries in recent years and breeders are not too happy about them. “Breeders are particularlydisturbed about new tests imposed in New Zealand, as they came without warning.
“These tests are much more stringent. If an animal fails once it is not allowed to try again as in the past.”
