TOO MUCH WHISTLE
Mid, VaHey Draw, 11-11 (N.Z. Press Association) ASHBURTON. Sept. 10. Mid-Canterbury and Thames Valley drew, 11-11, in perfect conditions at Ashburton today, but although both teams produced spirited Rugby, particularly in the second half, the game would not have appealed to the Rugby connoisseur. The match was marred by too many stoppages, and the only bright moves resulted from broken play. Two evenly-matched packs fought an honest duel up front, and both sets of backs were closely watched throughout the game. The star of the match was the Mid-Canterbury halfback, B. J. Molloy, who played superb football. The Thames Valley fullback, T. Shaw, could have won the game on full-time, but his conversion attempt, from almost straight in front, went astray. For Mid-Canterbury, tries were scored by B. V. Sampson and B. J. Molloy; A. H. A. Smith kicked one conversion and a field goal. R. J. Wells and R. C. Holden scored tries for Thames Valley, and Shaw kicked one penalty goal and a conversion.
