“I Have Not Retired” (N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 9. University examinations in November may decide whether W. J. Whineray will be available to play for the All Blacks against South Africa in the tests next year. Whineray hopes to complete a B.Com. degree this year, and if he does it should allow him to concentrate more of his time on Rugby training next winter.. He said today that at the moment he was studying two nights a week and this, coupled with his new job, made it impossible for him to undertake a full representative seasoh. Whineray, who is 29, and has played in 213 first-class matches, announced after his return from the British Isles, where he was captain of the triumphant All Black side, that he would be unavailable for any Rugby above club Play. Today, Whineray said he was annoyed at the number of people, and pressmen, who regarded him as retired. He said emphatically: .“I have not.”.
