AIR SEAT CHANGED
Passenger Suing (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Sept. 9. A company director is suing two airlines for damages because, he alleges, he was ordered from first class seats into the tourist portion of a plane. Mr Max Shiff, aged 64. claimed in a Supreme Court writ issued today that the incident happened on May 7 between Delhi and Tel Aviv while he was on a world trip with his wife and grandson. According to the writ, they had first class tickets and were ordered, in the presence of other passengers, to go to the tourist section. Mr Shiff subsequently discovered that his seats were given at Delhi to “a number of very important persons.” As a result, the writ said, Mr Shig suffered mental anguish and a breakdown necessitating medical attention and the subsequent cancellation of the trip. Mr Shiff is suing Qantas Empire Airways, Ltd., and Compagnie de Transports Aeriens, T.A.1., both of Melbourne, and alleges that one or both are responsible.
