Death Of Fish
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 9. The 8.8. C. was blamed by an angry viewer last night for the death of his 13 pet fish. Mi’ Leslie Kerinson, of Bex-hill-on-Sea Sussex, took the advice of a 8.8. C. television expert who told viewers how to clean out their fishponds. Mr Kerinson put about 31b of hydrated lime in his pond, as the expert said—but his fish died. Now he has sent a £6 bill to the B.B.C.—the cost of his four shubunkins, four long-tailed comets and five goldfish. The 8.8. C. had letters from hundreds of viewers after the programme. A 8.8. C. spokesman last night said some people who carried out the cleaning instructions had “unfortunate results.”. Although the quantities of hydrated lime given by the expert were believed to be right, there were differences in parts of Britain because of the varying chemicals in water supplies. The 8.8. C. is now preparing a detailed leaflet with cleaning instructions.
