GIFT TO CHRISTCHURCH.—This large residence in Hackthorne road has been left to the Mayor, councillors, and citizens of Christchurch by Mr John Young, a retired farmer, who died last month. The will stipulates that the building be used as a convalescent or rest-home, run on vegetarian lines, for the benefit of the sick and needy of Christchurch of good, character. It is to be called the John Young Memorial Home.
