Resembles A Junk
A boat which resembles a miniature junk is being built at West Lyttelton. Designed for ocean cruising, the craft being built by Stark Brothers for Mr T. Phipps, of Christchurch, is two-masted, ketch-rigged and desigmed fbr single handling. She is constructed of treated white pine and plywood and will have s fibre glass coating. A diesel engine is now being installed. She is 25ft long, has a beam of 6ft 6in and draws only 18in. Her hull has two bilge keels The small craft will contain four bunks, all aft, and will be equipped to carry 80 gallons of diesel fuel and 40 gallons of fresh water.
