In addition two men from the University of Otago are expected to begin their journey to Katmandu in the next few weeks. They are Messrs R. Stewart, of Invercargill, and J. McKinnon, of Dunedin. Mr Wilson is already in India, studying comparative religions in Benares. Messrs Crawford and Farrell left Christchurch on Monday evening. Mr Mackay, who took kpart in the Andean expedi-
tion, is now in Europe and is making his way to Katmandu independently. It is understood that Mr Hearfield will begin his journey with Mr Stewart and Mr McKinnon soon.
This number is considered by mountaineers as being as good a representation as the city has ever had on an overseas expedition. All five men are members of both the Canterbury Mountaineering Club and the Canterbury-Westland section of the New Zealand Alpine Club. The expedition will, In addition to the attempt on Mount Tamserku, build three schools, two bridges and an airstrip.
