BACK TO THE 40s
(New Zealand WELLINGTON, Sept. 8. War-time days in Wellington were relived today by Mr W. Berry, a presser. “It’s as if I were back in the early 40s again,” he said.
Mr Berry had good reason for his nostalgia. His shop was crowded with American sailors all day, an experience he has not had since the United States forces left the city at the end of the war.
*ress Association) “There have been hundreds through wanting a press,” he said. “I didn’t expect it. The wet weather has caused the rush.” Word of Mr Berry’s whiie-you-wait . service spread quickly among the sailors as they came ashore today drenched after a mile-long trip in exposed liberty boats from the U.S.S. Banbridge and Long Beach.
