TRIP TO GRANITY
C.W.I. Garden Circle Thirty-four members of the Hillsborough-Heathcote Country Women’s Institute Garden circle will leave Christchurch by bus next Tuesday on a two-day trip to Granity, on the West Coast. One of the highlights of the trip will be opportunities to gather driftwood on nearby beaches, for later use in floral art demonstrations. Mrs G. Bishop, a former member of the Granity institute, is organising the trip. Leaving the city on Tuesday morning, the party will travel to Inangahua, where they will stop for lunch, and a visit to Mrs J. Seymour’s landscape gardens there. The party will be entertained at a slide evening by members of the Granity institute. On Wednesday members will search for driftwood on Carters Beach, see shell work done by Mrs B. Eddie, visit the limeworks, and the Millerton open-cast coal mine. Granity members have arranged a social for the evening.
The party will leave for home on Thursday morning, stopping for morning tea with the Reefton institute.
