Rangiora Parks
Sir,—A brilliant piece of civic administration by the Rangiora Borough Council! Our new swimming pool will be not where there is ample room and not where streets are wide.. Down it goes on a children’s playing area in a lovely corner of Dudley Park, where the green space and the growing trees are most precious and most appreciated, and just where Church street is narrow. Taking the long view, this is so obviously the wrong place that our hard-headed councillors must be expecting some terrific short-term advantage. We would like to know. Thank goodness, the decision was not unanimous. Three councillors with enough vision to look beyond the immediate present voted for the suitable place, not for the most expedient Councillors King, Luisetti and McKie should be remembered grate-
fully by those who are interested in preserving Rangiora’s pleasant spaces against the onslaughts of the concrete squirters and the bulldozer brigade.—Yours, etc., MARIUS. September 7, 1964.
