NORTH TO BENEFIT
Allocation Of New Permits No indication as to where any new trotting permits would be allocated could be gained from the president of the New Zealand Trotting Conference (Mr W. H. Roche),, of Westport, yesterday. However, the majority would go to clubs in the North Island, he said. The question of new permits had been discussed at a meeting of the executive in Christchurch on Friday, but until the Gaming Amendment Bill at present before the House of Representatives was passed, nothing could be announced, he said. The Bill makes provision for 24 new permits, 12 of which will go to, galloping clubs and 12 to trotting clubs. The conference was most satisfied that its representations for additional permits had been successful, said Mr Roche, and he was certain that the extra 12 permits would help overcome many problems. METHVEN TROTTING CLUB. NOMINATIONS. Nominations for the Club's Spring Meeting to be held on September 26, 1964, will close with the Secretary, Ashburton, on Thursday, the 10th inst., at 4 p.m. J. B. NICOLL, Secretary. P.O. Box 54. Phone 6794. —Advt,
