Mail Taken From Depot
(N.Z. Press Association)
OPOTIKI, Sept. 7. The two mail bags stolen from the Railway Road Services depot on Sunday night were found empty this afternoon in a creek behind the depot.
The bags had held ordinary mail from Rotorua, Whakatane and Waimana. Some of the mail was recovered earlier today. Entry to the depot was through a window forced by the intruders, who also forced open drawers and cupboards. The theft was discovered when a driver arrived at 5 a.m. today.
