No Coloured Nurses
GV.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) LONDON, Sept 7. A matron has banned coloured nurses from her nursing home, the “Daily Mirror” says. She is Mrs Barbara Grainger, of the Kingsway Nursing Home, Bristol. She said: “I have nothing against them but I have a business to run. I know my patients would not take to coloured nurses.”
Another loc;.l nurse, Mrs Edna Monckton, plans to take the matter to the Royal College of Nursing. “I am not coloured but I am proud of a profession which recognises no racial barriers,” she said.
