Canterbury cricket in general, and the Rlccartoi club In particular, will welcome the recent re turn to Christchurch oi G. T. Barrett, who last summer was in Invercargill. Although Barrett had sir senior seasons in Christ church, he is stili in hit early twenties and then are prospects that he will become a valued Plunkel Shield batsman. At first a rather over-defensivt batsman, he developed
1- swiftly in his last two n Christchurch seasons. 11 His first pronounced advance was in 1961-62, when he . scored 604 runs in senior championship matches at ” an average of 40.3 and in r " that season he scored his first senior century. lx In 1962-63 he did not play a t* full season, and scored is 427 runs, but he raised 'e his average to 42.7 and 11 made two centuries. In st all, Barrett has scored st 1975 runs in the senior e grade, at an average of ■d 25.9.
