980 Gifts During August Nine hundred and eighty persons gave blood to the North Canterbury Blood Transfusion Service last month—66 more than in August last year. Blood use in Christchurch was 14 pints higher than 12 months before; totalling 629 pints. During the month, 768 pints was collected at the blood bank at the Christchurch Hospital while the mobile unit brought in 212 pints from Woplston and Waikari. Last August the blood bank received 609 pints and the mobile unit 314 pints. Fifty-three new donors enrolled last month at the blood bank and 58 at the mobile unit.
The Christchurch Hospital used 273 pints of blood last month, the Princess Margaret Hospital 172 pints, and other hospitals 184 pints, compared with 232 pints, 255 pints, and 128 pints respectively in August, 1963. The mobile unit will visit Paparua Prison tomorrow and Amberley oh September 17.
