TWO NEW ZEALANDERS

(London Correspondent of "The Press") LONDON, August 27. Miss Nancy Wise, a well-known 8.8. C. interviewer formerly of Christchurch, and Miss Nyree Dawn Porter, a Napier actress who has been doing important roles recently on television, appeared together on the BJB.C.’s “Town and Around” programme last evening. It was a brief session, but of particular interest to New Zealanders among the viewers. “Town and Around” had taken its cameras and interviewers to the national television and radio show at Earls Court, and there attention was focused on some of the personalities identified with the new 8.8.C.2 television channel. It was unique on that particular programme for one New Zealander to interview another. Miss Wise whispered to Miss Porter, who, in turn, suggested that their “island” differences ought to make them, sworn enemies. But there was no evidence of enmity. From the interview emerged one solid bond —a mutual affection for London. Said Miss Wise: “I’ve been here 14 years, and don’t want to go back.” Responded Miss Porter: “I’ve been here five-and-a-half years, and I adore it.” Each has been enormously successful in her own particular field and the lovely Miss Porter has shown excep-

tipnal ability in the characteracting field. She discusset) with Miss Wise various aspects of her successful new television play, “Judith Paris,” and indicated that the future held “possibly a film or another television series.”
