NINETY-FIFTH BIRTHDAY
Mrs A. M. Clark Of Ashburton One of the oldest residents of Ashburton, Mrs A. M. Clark, celebrated her ninetyfifth birthday yesterday. Mrs Clark has lived in the district for 92 years since coming to New Zealand with her parents when she was three years old. The birthday was celebrated quietly at the home of her nephew, Mr R. MacDonald, of Elizabeth street, where she has lived in recent years. Many relatives and friends called on Mrs Clark yesterday with congratulatory messages. Mrs Clark married Robert Clark in St Stephen’s Church, Ashburton, in 1893. Mr Clark was a carriage painter and land agent in Ashburton. He was also prominent in local affairs, being a Justice of the Peace and the District Coroner for a period. He died tn 1937.
Until some years ago Mrs Clark Judged knitting and sewing classes at numerous shows, and she still retained her interest in these hobbies to a late age.
