SYSTEM TO REMAIN
Appointment Of Selectors A move by the North Linwood club to change the system of appointing Canterbury selectors received little support at last night's annual general meeting of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association. The North Linwood motion provided that the selectors would be appointed at the .annual general meeting instead of by the management committee. Mr G. I. Atkinson, a former chairman of the management committee, did not support the motion as he said it was "going back to the system of 10 years ago." Mr Atkihson said that the position was arrived at whereby "people with no qualifications were appointed." Mr H. Hill agreed with Mr Atkinson and pointed put that "the competitions committee and handicappers know—or should know—all the players. Selectors appointed in the manner North Linwood proposed may not have this knowledge.”
