SATELLITE PICTURES
Good Shots Expected Pictures of excellent quality were being received at Christchurch Airport from the new American Nimbus satellite, said the Meteorological Service’s senior observer (Mr A. K. Brown), yesterday. The only trouble was that the pictures showed the weather situation over the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and the satellite’s transmitting gear was switched off when it passed over New Zealand. But word was received yesterday that the satellite would be taking weather pictures over New Zealand today. “We are expecting some really good ones when It comes over here,” said Mr Brown.
