The Storer Story

Like grandfather, like father, like brother—soccer comes naturally to the young Technical centreforward, Graham Storer. Twelve this month, Graham was an outstanding player in Canterbury’s victory in the South Island schools tournament at Timaru last week. He averaged three goals a game, played mostly at centre-forward, also moved with equal success to halfback, and even played half a game in goal—probably to prevent him scoring any more himself. He was one of five Canterbury boys named for the South Island team. Graham has been playing in the grades for Technical since he was four, and last season, in the eighth grade, scored the impressive total of 32 goals. He is now following in the footsteps of his brother, Reg, who has represented Canterbury in under 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 teams, and is the regular goal-keeper for Technical’s first side. It has been a good year for the Storer family. Graham’s father, Mr R. Storer, was selector of the under 18 team that recently won the Junior National Cup, to give Canterbury its first success In the tournament
