GAOL FOR WOMAN

Stole From Employer (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 31. A woman who stole £B5 a month from her employer was gaoled for nine months when she appeared before Mr R. M. Grant, S.M., today for sentence oh three charges of theft as a servant. The Magistrate ordered that the woman, Louise Frances Bryant; aged 35, housewife, be placed on probation for one year after the prison term. She is to make £6BB restitution.

Bryant,.who had difficulty walking to the dock, was permitted to sit in court. Mr W. M. Brown, for Bryant, said she was of a very nervous disposition. Because of a dispute with her de facto husband she had been in danger of losing her new home. Bryant had wanted to consolidate her position by bringing more money into the home, Mr Brown said.
