Art Course At Kaikoura
A course for painters arranged by the department of extension studies, University of Canterbury, in association with the Kaikoura Art Group, was held at Kaikoura during the week-end. Fifteen students from Canterbury and Marlborough attended. The course was designed for experienced painters who had worked in oils or watercolours. The lecturer was Mr J. Oakley, of the University of Canterbury School of Art.
The periods of instruction included lectures on methods and materials, space composition. in painting, outdoor sketches in preparation for oainting, and landscape painting. Constructive criticism of students’ work was given and a display and discussion of work undertaken at the course was held on the final day.
