Party For Himalayas

<N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 31. Lady Hillary will follow her husband, Sir Edmund Hillary, into the Himalayas early in November, leading three other “mountain wives” and a caravan of Sherpas on a six-day march.

Sir Edmund Hillary leaves Whenuapai for Chicago, London and the Himalayas tomorrow evening. He and the members of the party, which has been named the Himalayan schoolhouse expedition, will set up base camp at Chaunrikarka, 20 miles from Mount Everest. Lady Hillary and the three other New Zealand women, Mrs Anne Wilson, wife of the deputy leader of the expedition, Mr J. Wilson, oi Dunedin, Mrs June Mulgrew, wife of Lieutenant Peter Mulgrew. and Mrs Lois Pearl, wife of the expedition medical officer, Dr. M. Pearl, will fly into a tiny airstrip at Jiri and trek the, remaining distance to Chaunrikarka.

Although Sir Edmund Hillary will have made preliminary arrangements for their six-day walk, the women will be seeing to the final details and hiring of porters themselves.
