Champions Singles To P. Day '
P. Day (Shirley W.M.C.) won the Canterbury Indoor Bowls Association’s champion of Champion singles event on Saturday, beating Mrs J. Boone (Linwood Avenue) in the final of 12 ends, players won comfortably in their semi-finals but were very hard pressed in the quarter-finals. Mrs Boone and J Burrows (Post Office) were level. 5-all. at the end of their game, Mrs Boone gaining two shots on an extra end to win. 7-5. Day just beat W. Harne (St. Martins). 13-11. Other results were: Quarter-finals. —J. Abernethy (Saltwater Creek) beat R. Thornton (Riccarton W.M.C.). 16-1: M. Berkeley (Phillipstown) beat J. Alrock (Yaldhurst), 14-9. Semi-finals.—Mrs Boone beat Berkeley. 16-5; Day beat Abernethy, 12-7.
